Iron

Intravenous iron therapy is a treatment used to correct low iron levels in the body, especially in cases where oral supplementation is insufficient or poorly tolerated. Iron is an essential mineral for the production of hemoglobin, which is responsible for transporting oxygen in the blood and maintaining proper bodily function.

When administered intravenously, it allows for a faster and more effective restoration of iron levels, helping to improve physical performance, energy levels, and quality of life.

At Áurea Medical Center, this treatment is performed under medical supervision, ensuring safety, proper monitoring, and effective results in restoring your iron levels.

  • Helps combat fatigue and tiredness
  • Improves energy levels and concentration
  • Promotes tissue oxygenation
  • Supports the treatment of iron-deficiency anemia
  • Contributes to overall well-being

Each session lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the type of preparation and the prescribed dose.

Treatment is tailored to the patient's iron levels and medical evaluation. In many cases, 1 to 3 sessions are required, followed by follow-up visits to assess the response and determine whether ongoing treatment is needed.

  • Hypersensitivity or allergy to iron or any of its components
  • Iron overload (hemochromatosis or other conditions involving iron accumulation)
  • Anemias not related to iron deficiency (e.g.hemolytic anemias)
  • Active, uncontrolled systemic infections
  • Severe liver disease without prior medical evaluation
